Store And Trade Policies

Books that are accepted for trade will be credited to your account in the amount of 15% of their original cover price with a maximum credit of $1.50 per book.  Books that are in poor condition will not be accepted for trade.  Some examples of "poor condition" include (but are not limited to): water damage, cracked or cupped spines or excessive wear. With the exception of certain series romances, subject matter not carried by this store or time-sensitive non-fiction books, most good-condition paperback books are accepted for trade.  A trade credit of $0.25 (25 cents) will be given on all books where the cover price has been removed or where the cover price is not in US dollars (USD).  The Book Tree reserves the right to refuse any book for trade.  The Book Tree does not purchase books.

Your trade account is not separated into categories.  If you bring in mystery novels you can trade for westerns, classics, psychology, etc.  Your trade account does not apply toward the purchase of "new" books.

All books sold by the Book Tree have a "sticker price" affixed to the cover.  This price is typically 50% of the current publisher's price.  Your trade credit applies against 1/2 of this price with the remaining portion to be paid in cash.

All used books sold by the Book Tree are subject to a $0.20 (20 cent) handling fee per book.

Your trade account remains on file in the store.  Unused credit is never subject to cancellation.  Dormant trade accounts are subject to a $5.00 reinstatement fee.  A trade account becomes dormant when there is no activity for a period of 24 months.

The Book Tree can order new hardcover and paperback books as well as audio media.  Special orders are placed every week (cut off is 5:30pm on Friday).  Again, your trade credit does not apply against the purchase of new books or media.  Most special order books are discounted 15%.

The Book Tree maintains a "want list".  Customers can request to have titles placed on this list.  There is a $0.50 (50 cent) fee for all titles found on the want list.

The Book Tree can generate a list of all titles by a specific author by series.  There is a $1.00 per page fee for this service.
